BC Backcountry Ski Touring:

The Valkyrs are a largely unexplored mountain range. With 8 peaks over 8,000', the choices are as vast as the terrain.

Valkyr Lodge, set in the north end of the range at Naumulten Mountain, provides access to 7 unique zones. Each zone has its own character and challenges.

In the cirque surrounding our backcountry lodge there are countless classic open treed runs, suitable for a variety of conditions and ability levels. The ridges and folds of the mountain make for interchangeable and interesting runs. Most ski touring ends with a ski down Naumulten's west face to the lodge. Timed right, it can be just as the sun is setting over the Monashees and an ethereal alpen glow bathes the basin.

Within a short tour of the lodge there are many attainable ridges and peaks. The variety of aspect, incline and length of run found here can accommodate most ski touring agendas. From all vantage points the views are expansive and majestic. On the north and east aspects are big alpine bowls, steep couloirs and exciting treed skiing that the Selkirks are renowned for. On the south and west facing slopes are mellower inclines with an endless variety of open treed glades.

Epic riding in some of the most pristine wilderness that BC backcountry skiing has to offer will keep you coming back for more. Mid-week helicopter drops are an option for those who want to access the more remote zones and tour back to the lodge.

In winter, Valkr Adventures & Backcountry Lodge offers weeklong ski touring vacations - some of the worlds best powder skiing. Depending on your backcountry skill level and preferences you can choose between guided and catered, catered and self-guided or self-guided and self-catered trip options. Size of groups range from 8 - 12 people.

Our backcountry lodge is located high above the Arrow Lakes on Naumulten Mountain at the north end of the Valkyr Range, a sub range of the Southern Selkirk Mountains in the incredible Kootenays region of British Columbia, Canada. The Selkirks are known for some of the best powder skiing in the world.

Valkyr Lodge is a new handcrafted, big timber backcountry lodge set high in the mountains. We offer many amenities such as Internet access, comfortable furniture, fully outfitted beds in 6 semi-private rooms, indoor plumbing and hot showers in both the lodge and sauna. It's a little spot of comfort in a pristine wilderness setting.
